QUINTA DA PENALVA
A HOUSE WITH CULTURAL MEANING FOR SINTRA
Around here we believe that traveling is only the beginning to reach desires, dreams and unforgettable moments!
A trip through Portugal, a small country in the territory, but enormous in history, culture, natural landscapes, sympathy and welcome. From the big cities like Lisbon, unmistakable and recently awarded as the best European destination to visit, a monumental city with great European city rhythm, to small places like Sintra, charming and where you want to stay and order stop the time.
INTIMATE IDEAL FOR A SHORT STAY OR A LONGER ROMANTIC TRIP, Quinta da Penalva is a guest house, located just outside the village of Sintra. The property has four hectares and began to belong to the Portuguese family Mello and Castro and only in 1977 passed into the hands of the current owners, the Brazilian family Almeida Braga, who continue to spend seasons sometimes in Sintra, and sometimes in Brazil. The story goes that the tennis court was built for Queen Dona Amelia for practicing her favorite sport, when she spent the summer months with her husband, King D. Carlos I, in the Pena Palace. It was already at the beginning of the 20th century that the architect Raul Lino (1879-1974) was called upon to intervene, making the loft, gazebo and tea house next to the tennis court.
The guest house can be rented by anyone to stay for just one night, a weekend or a week, but also as a venue for weddings, birthday parties, cocktails or corporate events. In this house with a “very personal decoration with objects that are part of the family history, in a typical old Portuguese style”, have already spent the champions of Formula 1, Ayrton Senna and Emerson Fittipaldi and Tri-Champion Rolando Garros, Gustavo Kuerten. We advise everyone to arrive prepared to live happy days in Sintra Lands.
